Model?

Hi everyone,

I bought a used 9.9 4 strokes only to realize when spring came that there was no model plate on the outboard. I roughly know the model I have (FT9.9 elf or elg 1989 or 88) but I would like to be sure of it for repair matter. Is there an other way to find the model number? I do have the engine number though.

Some models had a small aluminum plug on engine block with number but other that no way to tell.

Dear Moderator

I did find on the engine block a number (other than the engine number) under a little yamaha crest. This number is 6G803 Y-1. Does it looks to you like a model number and if so can I with this number find the year of make and the model of my outboard.

The 6G8 is the serial number prefix which could be a F9.9 or a T9.9 model but no way to tell anything else.
