I just purchased a boat with twin 07 f250's with 150hrs. I trialed it in Florida a few weeks back and both motors wound out to 5800 rpms.
I got it here to NJ last week and took it out this weekend and one of the motors has no throttle response past about 4500. It runs smoothly at low rpms and does not sound like it has a miss.
If I let the other motor pull it briefly, it will wind to 5000 while the healthy motor goes to 5400, but I didn't want it to lug more than a few seconds. Acceleration and power is normal up to the mid 4's.
I pulled the plugs and all looked ok with just one plug with a bit more soot around the edges, but I noticed that the coil pack boots barely engage on the plugs-are these type of coils prone to spark leakage?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
