please help

i was wondering if someone could help me with a problem.i have a 2000 40hp yamaha motor and i was told to run a fuel additive call quik lean and i did but now after a couple weeks i have noticed that at idle or slow speed it chirps(i heard it called a sneeze also)some times it stalls but at throttle it runs great could the additive be my problem or does it sound like other issues? thanks for any help.i just dont want to get out somewhere and be stuck if its something bad.

Sounds like you are talking about a lean sneeze, you need to pull carbs take apart and clean.
fuel additives are not going to clean a carb. There are those that will help keep the fuel from going bad
