Stuck in gear-lower unit problem

Hi Everyone,
I have an 86' yamaha outboard. It is stuck in gear. I pulled the lower unit and confirmed the issue is not with the shift linkage leading to the lower unit. Not sure what happened to cause it be stuck. last time I ran it everything was fine. I didn't hit anything.
I am starting the search for a used lower unit. Do anyone know what range of year motors will have the same lower unit? Is this unit the same as a 60 hp ?
please contact me if you have a unit that will fit.

You didn't say what model you have.

60 and 70hp 1984-2003 will work.

Why not find out what is wrong with it and then decide if you need a different lower unit?
