  • Finding correct prop

My brother currently has a 25 ft Sea Serpent fiberglass boat with a cabin on it. It's outfitted with a 2008 yamaha F200 TXRG motor which as a stainless steel prop with the dimensions 14.25 dia. x 17RH pitch. We were told the motor should max out at about 6000 to 6300 rpm's but with this current 3 blade prop he's only getting about 5300 with just him in the boat. We were wondering if anybody has any suggestions on what size prop we should be looking for, we also assume he needs a little smaller pitch to bring up the rpm,s. If anybody has any suggestions can they also tell us where to get the right prop, thanks everybody's time is appreciated, daren93.

First thing to do is make sure the motor is running to properly. This may take a visit to the Yamaha shop that installed the motor.

Has this set up ever run better that it is now?
Have you checked on the Yamaha performance web site to see what it says for this boat and motor?
