  • water pump

I have a 2000 model vx225 yamaha I just purchased. First use water pump had 10 to 15 pounds of water pressure. Second trip I did not have a water stream , hooked ears to it after I returned home, still on stream. Could pump go out that fast?

When did the impeller get replaced last?

They can and will shear off veins and shear off the hub

I'm not sure about when it was replaced. I wanted to get some input before i tear in down . Do I need to replace every thing in the pump to be on the safe side.

Since the motors history might be questionable I would consider the following...

Replace the thermostats. After 10 years they might have issues.
Since you aren't sure about the waterpump, replace it. Cheap insurance. Make sure to check the intake screens on the lower unit too.

Certain motors also had a valve under the computer. (I replaced it on my 1997 SS 225) (you can do a search here for more info on that and if it applies to your motor)

Not sure if you motor has the hose going through a water cooled resistor but you can check to make sure thats clear too.
