I have a 250B with the digital shift/throttle & square command link gauges. All three device ports on the CL hub are in use (two to the gauges, one to either the shifter or the key switch, not sure).
I want to interface the CL network to a Lowrance NMEA2K network to get engine data to my HDS10, and feed GPS data from the HDS10 (and in the future a dedicated GPS receiver puck) to the CommandLink speedo.
I know there is a CL device to NMEA2K cable that you can make or buy, but you need a device port and you'd typically connect this to a single NMEA2K device, not into a NMEA2K network.
My question is can you extend the CL network through the network port, and connect to the "network" side of a NMEA2K "T" - or do I have to add another CL hub and connect in via the device port? If CL is really NMEA2K, then it would seem I could extend the network, just changing the form factor of the connectors using a Yamaha CL Network cable and put a NMEA2K field installable connector on the other side.
If I can go this route - do I need a power injector on the Lowrance NMEA2K network side as well, or will the power sourced to the CL hub be sufficent to feed the network?
Is there anywhere that I can get wiring diagrams of the CL connectors (details on what signals run on what pins) - I have a copy of the CL Installation guide, which may give some clues as I read further....
thanks
